Planning a baby shower is so much fun. You get to plan silly baby games, invite all your best girlfriends, shop for adorable baby gifts and plan a fun baby shower buffet that is delicious and befitting a pregnant woman.

Baby shower buffet catering in Philadelphia

We can avoid soft cheeses, but still create a beautiful cheese and cracker platter for your baby shower buffet.

Before you dive into the decorations and the baby shower activities, talk to your caterer about the types of food you want at the shower. Since it’s a baby shower, a buffet is the best option, leaving you room and time to enjoy the party, sit with your friends, while our staff sets up a beautiful, scrumptious display filled with food that goes with your theme and adheres to the dietary restrictions of the mom-to-be.

Foods to avoid at your baby shower

Obviously, leave the tartar and the raw egg yolk for after the baby is born. Raw meats are always a risk, even for non-pregnant people, but the risk for a pregnant woman in case of bacteria are a lot worse.

Although we make awesome, delicious, and authentic sushi, this is probably not the best option for your shower – unless it’s our vegetarian California rolls that don’t include raw fish.

Soft cheeses are also a no-no for expecting mothers, but that doesn’t mean you can’t include a cheese plate on the buffet menu.

Before you decide on the menu, check with the mother to see what she is and isn’t eating, because every mom is different.

Incorporate a baby theme

Of course, because it’s a baby shower, you’re allowed to get cute and stick to a “baby theme.”

There are baby carrots, baby back ribs, and of course, everything can be made in baby sizes.

Instead of burgers, ask for our juicy, delicious mini-sliders – or baby burgers.

Make all your desserts baby-sized!

Desserts take center stage

Desserts need to play a central role in your buffet. Baby showers are typically in the afternoon, so tea and desserts are expected. Baby cupcakes, baby brownies, baby chocolate chip cookies. You name it; we can make it, and make it baby-sized and cute, including matching the color of all frosting to the sex of the baby. We know real men can wear pink these days, but when it comes to a baby shower, there’s nothing wrong with a little old-school tradition.
